You'll be away from home for four weeks (with the option of a further two weeks training) living in Army accommodation at Grantham, Lincolnshire where you will learn soldier skills such as tactical combat, weaponry and decisive decision making and become a trained soldier (volunteer).
Food and accommodation will be provided and in your free time the base has a social club.
After registering your interest in Challenge East 08 you will be contacted by a careers adviser who will discuss your goals and aspirations. You will then be put in touch with your local TA unit where you can learn more about Challenge East and life as a TA soldier.
If it is for you then you will be taken forward through the application and selection regime to enlistment. You'll receive a full set of army clothing and equipment before your training starts.
If, after starting Challenge East 2008, you discover that it is not for you, there's no legal obligation to stay. In other words you are free to leave if you choose. The Army recognises that these decisions can be difficult and will provide careers advice and counsel before such decisions are reached.
Challenge East is just one way to join the TA. If, for whatever reason, you can't participate in this event we are still very interested in you. Speak to a careers adviser by clicking here.
